About Swadhisthana Chakra

Today I am going to tell about Svadhisthana Chakra. The sacral chakra is located about two inches below the belly button. It’s associated with the color orange, and the water element. It is our chakra of movement, sensuality, creativity, and emotional intelligence. It also allows us to feel passion and explore our desires. With a healthy sacral chakra, we are in tune with our basic right to feel and experience pleasure. The second chakra, Svadhisthana, is also known as the creativity and sexual chakra. You can open this chakra with creative expression and by honoring your body. The energy of this chakra is feminine, passive, and lunar. The main challenges with this chakra are centred around guilt, fear of change, shame, religious rigidity, inhibitions, social conditioning and subconscious scars.

How to Balance Svadhisthana

Besides being open to creativity in your daily life, you can balance the second chakra by maintaining a healthy sexual life and honoring and respecting your body. Get in touch with your emotions and see if there are any feelings you’re holding onto. Make a commitment to process those emotions in a healthy way.

To achieve balance in Svadhisthana chakra we need to make time for creativity. It may be a hobby you wanted to learn, it may be spending more time preparing food for your family, or repairing items around the home. It could be planting out the garden or spending time writing, drawing or another creative task. Do what is that calls to you!

Root Chakra Color: Orange

The sacral chakra’s associated color is orange. This color represents all of the ideas you imagine that it would – the warm glow of positivity emanates from it expressing success, freedom, determination, and great health. It’s really the perfect color to represent this chakra. If feelings of anxiety or lack of joy and fulfillment are dimming the radiance of Svadhisthana, try surrounding yourself with the color orange.

Sounds, Colors, and Gems that help to open and align Svadhisthana

The mantra sound that corresponds to the sacral chakra is the sound VAM. By chanting VAM, the vibrations will open and align this chakra. The color for the second chakra is orange and the gemstones for this chakra are amber, calcite orange, carnelian, or hematite.

Essential Oils for the sacral chakra:

  • Cinnamon

  • Cypress

  • Tangerine/Orange

  • Black pepper

The Sacral Chakra is associated with the water element and its natural flow. Connecting with water, such as a lake or river, helps promote balance here. Taking a shower or a warm bath can also regulate overwhelming emotions.

About Muladhara Chakra

Located at the base of the spine, the pelvic floor, and the first three vertebrae, the root chakra is responsible for your sense of safety and security on this earthly journey. The word Muladhara breaks down into two Sanskrit words: Mula meaning “root” and Adhara, which means “support” or “base.” The Muladhara Chakra is based on the earth element and radiates the color red. Balancing the Root Chakra creates a solid foundation for opening all the other six chakras. When the Muladhara Chakra is balanced, a person experiences stability, confidence, energy, and strength.

Imbalances in the Root Chakra

If there is an imbalance in the root chakra you may experience anxiety disorders, fears, or nightmares. Physical imbalances may manifest as problems in the colon, with the bladder, with elimination, or with lower back, leg, or feet issues. In men, prostate problems may occur. Eating disorders may also be a sign of a root chakra imbalance.

Root Chakra Color: Red

It is important to know that the chakras are made up of energy only, so they don’t have their own color. But each of the seven chakras reflects the colors of their elements and surroundings.

The Muladhara Chakra is surrounded by the element earth so it reflects the color deep red. The Root Chakra color symbolizes primal instincts of strength and vitality. The red color is also linked to our physical and emotional needs of survival and self-preservation.

Sounds, Colors, and Gems that help to open and align Muladhara

Chanting or toning sounds can help bring you back to balance just like music brings people together.

Finally, colors and gems can help bring a chakra into balance. The root chakra’s color is red. Gemstones for the first chakra include garnet, red jasper, black tourmaline, and bloodstone. You can place the gemstone on the area of the chakra while lying down to help open and align it.
